Daban Age 1 Normal - Unboxing

Good day Plamo builders! Today I'll be doing a quick unboxing of Daban's latest release - the Age 1 Normal, which I recently received from Gundam Central.

The box is your standard Daban reproduction of the original, with only the logo and name replaced.

Scribing with a Template

Scribing is my favorite customization technique. It lets you add a ton of detail to an otherwise boring kit in a very small amount of time. Adding a few basic shapes to a blank armor panel can make it more interesting to look at. But don't let the term "basic" fool you. If you think freehand drawing a perfect circle is difficult, scribing one onto plastic is next to impossible without the help of a proper tool. That is where templates come in.

Greetings fellow modelers! I've just added a Downloads section to the blog, where I'll be sharing some modelling related media, both home made and scavenged off of the internet.

Superbuilds I

Greetings plamo fans, and welcome to the first ever edition of Superbuilds! It's been a year since I last featured other people's work here - now I'm thinking of making this a regular thing in between my own WIP posts and tutorials. The first thing I do when I get a new kit is pull up google and search for built and customized examples of the same model, which helps me come up with my own concept and design. I'll be featuring some epic builds I've found on the web over the past couple of years, sharing what I like about them - and I'll provide the link back to the source for your own research. Note that many of these are from foreign blogs, so you may need Google Translate to get more info.

Just a quick update - thought I'd do one last post before the contest conclusion. I was able to get my hands on a Hasegawa scribing template (thanks to Pinoy Gunpla Modeler on Facebook) and immediately put it to good use...

I did a quick poll across several plamo communities to help me decide on the weapons layout for this build, and the results revealed option C to be the most popular, so I'm going with that.

Scribing with Dymo Tape

There are a lot of good scribing guide's on the web, but I'd like to share how I do it and throw in some tips based on experience.

Tools:
1. Pencil
2. Compass (the thing with a needle and a pencil holder used for drawing circles)
3. Dymo tape
4. Sandpaper
5. Tamiya Scriber II (optional)

Some progress over the past 2 weekends - I finally got the backpack mounted. I wanted to use magnets but ended up going with a couple of screws to secure it to the body.
